Eminem is Infinite

Eminem – Searchin

(Web Entertainment; 1996)

So what is there to say about Eminem that you don’t already know?  He is the greatest selling rapper of all time.  He is the greatest selling artist of the past decade.  The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, and Relapse, four consecutive albums, all won the Grammy for the Best Rap Album.  He’s won a total of eleven Grammys in his career.  He won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Lose Yourself in the film 8 Mile.  Including his collaborations with D12, Eminem has eight #1 albums and twelve #1 singles in his career.

I could post one of the many hits Eminem has produced in his career, but I want to take it back a little bit.  I feel that Infinite, Eminem’s first official release deserves as much attention as the rest of his releases.  Yeah, it doesn’t have the mainstream appeal or the polish that his future releases would have, but there’s something about the simple underground production that gets to me.  It’s also very interesting to see Eminem in his earlier stages still developing his personal style before he became the legend that he is today.  Eminem had this to say about Infinite, “Obviously, I was young and influenced by other artists, and I got a lot of feedback saying that I sounded like Nas and AZ. ‘Infinite’ was me trying to figure out how I wanted my rap style to be, how I wanted to sound on the mic and present myself. It was a growing stage. I felt like ‘Infinite’ was like a demo that just got pressed up.”  Still a classic in my opinion and worth checking out in its entirety.  Enjoy!
