Apparently, Lil Wayne Feels Like Dying

Lil Wayne– I Feel Like Dying

The Drought Is Over 2 (Carter 3 sessions)

(Cash Money/Universal Motown; 2008)

So Lil’ Wayne.  I don’t like Lil’ Wayne.  It’s not his personality, because I think he’s hilarious.  It’s just that I respect hip-hop.  Lil’ Wayne does not rap.  He gets really fucking high and then talks.  And not to help matters, his rhymes are weak.  And Rebirth? Wait, are you fucking kidding me?  A rock album…I hope that was a joke.  But, in keeping with the flow of these posts, I’ll give you guys a little background on how Lil’ Wayne came to be wildly popular through auto-tuned mediocrity.  As a teenager he joined Cash Money records as the youngest member on the label.  In 1997, he joined the Hot Boys and they released their debut Guerilla Warfare in 1999.  He gained a lot of success through the Hot Boys debut and followed it the same year with his own Tha Block is Hot. The album sold over 2 million copies.  Over the next ten years, he would release six more albums, with Tha Carter III becoming wildly popular.  It produced a #1 hit in Lollipop and won a Grammy for the Best Rap Album.  With all of this success I could understand how Lil’ Wayne could accidentally assume he is the greatest rapper alive.  Sorry Lil’ Wayne, I wouldn’t even put you in the top five.

Anyway, despite all of this Lil Waynebashing, I’ll admit that he does have one good song.  This has been my finals theme song for the past two years, and considering I’m about to sit down and actually start studying I thought I’d share it with you.  I Feel Like Dying is amazing.  From top to bottom, this song has so much style.  You can actually feel the withdrawal symptoms when you listen to this.  Trust me, that’s a good thing.  When you listen to this song though, you really have to pay attention.  Close your eyes and really listen.  Enjoy!
