Daft Punk is Human After All…

Daft Punk – Human After All

Human After All

(Virgin; 2005)

So back to Daft Punk.  I will probably return to Daft Punk every couple weeks until I’ve exhausted their complete discography, because in all honesty, every track they’ve ever produced is amazing.  This time we’re going to take a look at Human After All. This album was released a little before the duo’s directorial debut of Electroma.  The film explores two robots’ attempt to become human.  This film is really an exploration of beauty in unexpected places.  I really enjoyed the film, and was highly impressed by Thomas Bangalter’s and Guy Christo’s first attempt at film-making.  You really have to be patient though, as certain scenes seem to drag on, but the payoff in the last twenty minutes of the film is truly unforgettable.  Follow the links below to see the film.  I’d recommend opening the links all at once, since they take some time to load.  Enjoy!

Now, the reason I thought it was appropriate to show this film, is it because it ties in with the “theme” of their album and single Human After All. Although they just repeat that lyric over and over in the track, in a way it is very moving.  This is mainly because this track just makes me think of the film and I get that same emotional response I felt at the end of the film.  So, even if you didn’t watch the film, which I highly recommend, this track is still awesome.

Another reason I thought I should share this song today is because recently my younger brother brought up that he might be interested in getting a tattoo at some point in the near future.  This got me thinking.  If I was going to get a tattoo, what would I get?  I did some googling for “Daft Punk tattoos” and I was generally unimpressed by what most other people had come up with.  So I started brainstorming and this is what I came up with.  I doubt I’ll ever get it done, but it was fun to design.  I combined the pyramid from their Alive 2007 logo and this cool font based on Daft Punk’s main logo that I found a while ago.  I think it turned out pretty cool:

And finally, here’s the video for Daft Punk’s Human After All. Enjoy!
